Health and safety

The health, safety and welfare of our staff is of paramount importance.

All new staff undergo an induction into our work approach to health and safety and study our risk assessments.  Everyone on site is CSCS qualified and issued with full personal protective equipment appropriate to the task.  We hold the Committed to CSCS Platinum Award Certificate.

We also hold both the CHAS and SMAS accreditations.

We make sure that all plant and equipment is suitable and safe.  No one operating plant or hand-held equipment may do so without suitable training and appropriate qualifications to use it safely.

Many have First Aid qualifications and no team works on site without at least one first aider.  Site vehicles carry first aid kits and fire extinguishers.

For each job there is a site file with details of the brief, specific requirements and sensitivities of the site, emergency contacts and specific responsibilities, who the first aiders are, directions to the nearest A&E department, health and safety method statements and risk assessments, protocols and procedures.  A site induction at the start of any job and daily briefings not only deal with immediate tasks but also highlight particular risks.  We encourage all memebers of the site team to feed back any relevant observations or concerns.  Any incidents on site are investigated and lessons learned are incorporated into future method statements and briefings.

An ongoing training programme focuses on developing staff competence and safety awareness.
