The overall environmental strategy was to create new habitat areas to attract a diverse range of wildlife and visitors to the Marshes whilst maintaining the council's commitment to increasing biodiversity in the borough.
The works included:
- Seeding 2 hectares of diversified grasslands.
- Planting 4000 trees.
- Planting 20,000 native spring bulbs.
- Installing 30 bat boxes and 30 bird boxes within existing woodland.
- Installing timber steps and benches.
- Creating forest bark paths.
- Designing and installing a bird hide.
- Continued maintenance.
